Variation on the Coca-cola topic

Has anybody ever done a high altitude trek in the Andes with the help of chewing on (legal) coca leaves, not cocaine. Did you notice a difference?

And would you admit to doing it on a public forum? Mods, sorry about the comment but even discussing it might get you on a DEA, FBI, or CIA computer file with your blood being tested the next time you try to re-enter the US. I've lived outside the US for over five years and there are still some things I do not like to even think about doing.
