Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Check out CLT area riders thread. I may stay overnight and see part of Stage 5. If I can figure out where to stay. Hope we can get a small CLT group together. Why does everyone feel that working that day is more important than seeing the pros?! *thunk*

I sure hope they have more coverage of this event then just 2 hours on Cyclism Sunday. I'd really like to watch as much as possible.

We're bringing our bikes and driving in on the 16th. Plan to watch parts of all stages except first.

I went in there one Saturday about a month back and there was a Jittery Joes car out side. Inside, there were 5-7 guys sitting around talking. I walked in and looked at the saddles on the wall for maybe 5 minutes. No one ever said a word to me. They just sat there talking to their friends. I wasn't cool enough, i guess. I walked out and went home and ordered a saddle from Nashbar.

However, I did buy a Lemond Reno from them in part because I liked their attitude at that time. The service varies, but I do get the sense that the more you look like a 'serious' rider the more attention you'll get.

It doesn't make me want to buy another bike from them.

They aren't going up Hogpen Gap this year.

Actually, they're coming to me. I'm within spitting distance of Stone Mtn and a brief ride to downtown. Guess I need to start on an itinerary...

I get the same reaction when I hgo in there also. They seem more interested in what they are doing for sure. I did talk to their mechanic once and he was nice. He also is the JJ team mechanic. I don't ever buy much there unless it's something I NEED that day. I drove all the way to Atlanta to buy my bike. The guys at The Hub definately feel they are superior to non competitive cyclists.

I have started going to the Sunshine Cycles in Watkinsville. I have met 2 guys in there, one being the owner and they have been more than helpful. Thats the kind of bike shop you dont mind going to just to hang around while they service your bike, they are very interested in helping the customer.
