To tell you the truth the velcro strap grooves are kinda gimicky. I have never really had a problem with my velcro not being able to get tight enough or come loose during a ride. I make the top buckle really tight and just make the velcro snug. This provides good circulation to the toes during the ride, and only ever crank the velcro down for the final sprint in a race, hill time trial, etc.
If I recall correctly, I beleive the 07 models do not even have the grooves (going off of what I remeber someone saying before in another thread).
I have the Genius 5, and really like them. I would take a picture but I just have the normal black model(black is black, no color variation).

black black and white/white are the prettiest....the ones with silver are kind of weak.
Don't worry about the little plastic groove things....
if you really need pictures, I can take some (I have silver/black sidi 5's) but I'm to lazy to upload to a website, so I'd need an email.

I have them and they are great. I wouldn't be plussed about the velcrow straps. Cycling shoes should fit like a fine dress shoe slip on...snug but no where near tight. I don't run my velcrow tight at all because with the shoe in the proper width and volume, you only need the top closure ratchet strap snugged up...again not tight.
Tight anywhere on a cycling shoe will mean numbness eventually which of course you want to avoid. For putting them on and taking them off, I never touch the velcrow straps....just the top ratchet strap.
BTW, Sidis run short so buy them long enough. For me, that means a full mondo size up.
They have a good following for a reason...great shoes.

The white Energy has so many World Championship rainbows on it, than non-riders will surely think you have the rainbows because you're light in the loafers (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Those Energy's do like nice. I have the same closures on my Sidi motorcycle boots (Vertigo Corsas) and once you set them they stay perfectly set until you take them off. They really allow you to dial in the fit. +1 on wanting those in mega. Not everyone has small feet!
