Anyone still using "classic bend" round drop bars ?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a freakishly long 140mm Deda Newton Stem paired up with the bars. I like the bars a lot coming from FSA Anatomics. The bars are nice and stiff.

Can't go wrong when that combo is a popular pro choice as well.

Yes, shallow drop, but I just compared to the Bonty bars and the Giro d'Italia bars have at least a centimeter more drop than they do. So, relatively speaking, one could call them 'deep shallows'. All I know is they are damn comfy.

*****. Now you have me thinking the obvious: If I like the Cinelli shallow drop...I'd probably love the deep drop bars. Wonder if I could find a set for the Airborne.

onkey, you've got one sweet collection of bicycles at your house! Looks like you really dig the Ritchey WCS stems as well.

I'm getting classic bars on a bike I'm ordering(the frame's gettin' painted now). The past two years ,MOST
Co's offer at least one model. I have them on an older bike.I have anotomics on others. the classics seem to offer a position or two more , maybe. I'll add; go with a 43cm ?? a smaller drop, stay away from the really deep ones, unless your hands are the size of an NBA center. The really deep ones were "in style" years ago,the shallow or semi shallow will suit most guys and all gals better, easier to get the brakes, feel more secure.

you forgot Lance, and you did not say "why" the pros use classic deep drops, THEY ARE MORE COMFORTABLE FOR THE LONG HAUL, OFFER MORE HAND POSITIONS AND ARE BETTER ON ROUGH ROADS. Also I don't agree the the list above have "gone back" many of those pros never switched.

yeah, 30 bucks at Bicycle Recycle.

They measure about 39 c-c across the bottom of the drops, and they narrow slightly as they go up to the tops

Aren't they the crit bend bars? I can't find them... I have a couple that crackle when you stress them so they just sit on a shelf.

That is a sweet ride. Is it me or does it look really aggressive, like the COG is pushed way towards the front of the bike.

Looks like a steep seat tube angle well compensated for by a large amount of setback in the seat-post and the saddle back as far as it will go, which would put the COG back where it belongs...

CINELLI 66 CAMPIONE DEL MONDO

The model 66 is the deeper drop of the two standard drop bars (64 & 66), and it's not that deeper. At the tubing end, it has a 24.0mm outer diameter and a 1.59mm wall thickness. The wall thickness will vary between the ends, because of bends and bulges in the bar. A 119mm long sleeve at the center of the bar builds out its diameter out to the 26.4mm needed for Cinelli stems. The centermost 39mm of the sleeve is knurled to give the stem additional grip. The straight area of the top section is 250mm long. The front face of the bar's top section and the forward curve has a groove pressed into it. This trough is to recess the brake/shift cables if Aero brake/shift levers are used. The drop, center to center, of the 66 is 158mm and the length of the flat is about 4.5" (115mm). The 66 is Clear anodized to a Silver color and available in three widths 40 cm, 42 cm, or 44. The weight of a 42 cm version of the 66 is 332.5 grams. Made in Italy.

I've actually had to put a seat post with even more set back on to get the saddle back far enough. It was still too far forward in that pic. The bike now has Dura Ace as well - pity about the Ultegra decals on the frame
