Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New rig..... with pics.

I got the new rig all set up and out for a test ride this past week-end.
I know marin isn't known for their road frames, but this thing is fantastic. (Steerer will be trimmed soon, don't worry.)

No it's not a dork disk on the back, it's FSA's aero hub. Looks a little odd, but they're different, and from what I've seen so far, the wheels are very nice.

FSA K-wing bars keep the cables from the Chorus shifters nice and neat. I hadn't riden Campy much before, bu am really enjoying their stuff.

FSA K-force crank and Record Rear Derailer (Carbon and Titanium goodness), and KEO classics on for pedals, but they may soon be replaced with some KEO carbons.

Other goodies:
-the fork is full full carbon monocoque
-chorus brakes and front derailer
-FSA SLK seatpost

Soon to be added
- Arundel Dave-O bottle cage

Thank goodness for shop employee discounts.

1) Lose the dork disks!
2) Trim that steerer
3) Flip it!

- just kidding, nice bike, tell us about the ride next time.

Very nice setup. Let us know how those wheels end up riding. I have heard mixed reviews, but I have been very intereted in the idea of them.

Nah I'd go with blue or something to give the bike some more color.

Just kidding. But seriously, I like those K Wing Bars.

Congrats on the new bike. Very cool and funky wheels, I'm interested in your reviews as you get some mileage on them.

heh heh, well the ride was my usual loop (~30km) coming home from work it was nice and warm (13 celsius) so I let my legs get some sun (but quickly wished I had thrown on some leg and arm warmers because the sun was quickly setting and the temp dropped too). The loop is mostly flat (like everything else here in the canadian prairies) but has a couple of rises where there are some man made flood control systems.

I heard the mixed reviews about the wheels aswell, but I'm willing to give them a try, I'll post again once I get some more miles on them to give a better review.

Thanks, now I just need to take it to a warehouse, use some selective lighting, and some creative angles, and it'll be as cool as your bikes. ...... well.... almost.
