First day out this year
So after what was really a pretty short winter (but always seems too long) we have some fantastic weather our way. Last night I prepped my Basso which has hibernated in my basement during the colder months and got my clothes and other items all ready.
Woke up before 7am, looked outside to the bright sunshine and zero wind and thought 'perfect'. I was a bit nervous as I'd only bought the Basso in late October and had ridden it all of 5 times before I put it away.
My main concerns were whether I'd still remember how to unclip my shoes fast enough when I come to a stop and how stiff my shoulders and neck get riding the bars.
But those problems didn't happen. Instead I was reminded of how numb my palms (thumb area) get from riding the hoods and how cramped my feet would get in the new shoes. Top that off with the usual runny nose and some eye blurriness.
Other than that I had a good ride. A lot of the previous sensations returned as if I'd never left the bike for those few months and I got to enjoy how good the bike is on the road. I'm looking forward to many more rides this year and better fitness.
