Cross-fredination of the Pro Peloton
Clearly the folks at Garmin want to make a statement to those who think the Garmin Edge is Fredly... I'm watching the Tour de Georgia and they showed a Team PriorityHealth bike, a Pinarello Paris Carbon, with an Edge 305 Mounted on the stem.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Freds have more fun on their bikes cuz we're not worried about what a great piece of equipment looks like or the perception it fosters. If it improves the ride, who cares? I'd kinda like to have an edge myself but not enough to buy one..

I noticed Dave Z had one on his stem when I saw his bike at the CSC camp...
And in the newest Velonews, there's a shot of a rider going down (don't have it in front of me right now) during paris roubaix and he's got one on his stem as well.

So I just looked at the PriorityHealth team's website and Garmin isn't listed as a sponsor... Are these things just popular with the pros or something?

Everyone who did the TdG got one for free, that may be a factor.

I don't know which I'd rather have: the Edge305 from TdG or the iPod video from ToC. Either way, US race schwag = sweet. I mean, in Roubaix you gotta friggin win to get a cobblestone. wtf is up with that?

One of the European pro teams has uploaded some of their 305 data to the Motion Based website from one of the Belgian classics recently. I just searched and can't find it because I can't remember how it was labeled and their search engine sucks.

One guy on the ride I did today was sporting "Supergrover" on his jersey, but Spongebob is OK too.

Garmin was a major sponsor of the race.

You're right about the price coming down, of course.

Let me know when you're in NY and we can both go on the Tour De Fred. You'll love that ride. It's where an uneasy mix of Freds and Road Nazis comingle in uneasy harmony every Saturday AM. Actually it's the friendliest ride around, plenty of Freds AND Racers, which underscores how unfounded this whole Racer vs. Fred thing really is.
But it's Fun Forum Fodder.
Do you realize how pointless half the racers' lives here would be if they couldn't bust Freds all the time? Please. Have some empathy, they need a reason to live besides their pathetic pursuit of a Cat 3 upgrade.

Personally, I think the PT CPU is the ugliest thing. I mean... c'mon. Bright Yellow?! Increase in visibility in racing photo's, but cripes. What I wouldn't do for a PT cpu that looks/feels like my old astrale8.

the more & more i see garmins, the more i want one. i'll probably never get one because they cost so much, but it'd be fun to track where i go via gps (esp here in NC where i have no idea where i'm riding).
