Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is why your training plan should be like Der Jan's. He doesn't corrode his body with much of the spinning and base miles non-sense. No, he eats a great deal to fuel his huge mashing muscles. Then he mashes like hell. Go get 'em tiger.

I think you will have good results if you train smart (not just riding around) and race smart (not just shooting off the front when the race starts) persistently. Remember, the general idea in racing is to do as little work as necessary up to some critical point where you drope the hammer (sorry) and burn up all that energy you've been saving.

You have youth and the time that youth affords. Use it wisely. You may not ever become a pro, but you will crush some souls along the way.

How can you read that and not smile?

Go get 'em, Ryan. We will require a detailed race report with photos.

What are you wearing?
No mention of 'your look' yet?

Disappointing young ryan, come on....you talk about face time you should know to be ready to look your best for that face time when you break off the front early.

Ryan, you need to be able to do both. Spinning taxes the cardiovascular (aerobic) system, mashing taxes the muscular (anaerobic). At various points in a ride, be it a century or a race, you need to be able to call on either and by the same token be able to rest each one in turn.

And wasn't it you who quoted that pain was just 'weakness leaving your body'? Sometimes when it hurts, it's doing your body good.
