You tested for LT not HRmax. So set your zones as percentage of LT. In my Bible, it's on pp 35 and 36.

I just looked up Friel's protocol. At least in my edition, you do a thirty minute time trial and you check your HR ten minutes in; that gives you your threshold heart rate (not your maximum heart rate).
So when you go out to do threshold work, you should aim for around that heart rate. If you've been training hard the past day, or days, your HR will be suppressed, however; so then you should aim for something a little less. I personally find I get a big 'bang for my buck' training at about 92-95% of my LTHR.
Now the thing that maybe you are about to do incorrectly is input your LTHR as your Max HR. The two are different. For most people, the LTHR is about 92% of their Max HR. Mine fits that formula quite well: my LTHR is 172 and my max is 187.
I wouldn't test yourself for your max HR. Instead, look at your HR curves after racing; when you do an all-out 15 second sprint after a hard finale in a race, you can bet you'll be at or very near maximum HR.

Ok thanks. I'll look in my book. I'm meeting with my NEW coach on thurs and he is going to do 2 other test's on his computrainer. One for LTHR and one for my max hr. I soooooo excited the wife finally let me hire a coach!! The only stipulation is I have to work extra hours to pay for it. It's ok that is how I sold it to her anyway
