Tamales: The perfect power ride food?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Specialized Sirrus - 2000?

Tamales: The perfect power ride food?

It comes in its own biodegradeable wrapper. You can buy decent ones frozen at Trader Joes. Defrost a little and put in the back pocket for the ride and have a tasty lunch treat.

Discuss.

Bikes: A few.

Sounds nauseating.

When I read the thread title, the first words that popped into my head were "jet propelled". But really, that would be frijoles.

I think you're thinking of something else. Tamales don't have beans in them.

I know they don't have beans but it's still heavy food while riding. At least to me.

Never mind the gas. You do know that the dough is made with flower and lard....(lots of it) why the hell would you want to eat that during a ride? greasy. heavy and not good for you.**********

I can't believe I am hearing Californians and Texans getting all wimpy concerning good ole tamales! Tis the breakfast of Mexican champions, including...uh...hmmm... nevermind.

Green chili stew or posole...that't the ticket!

PEOPLE! before you go debating tamales, maybe you all should have a little refresher on their history/ingredients.

Thank you SuperDex,

That's what I'm talking about. Steamed corn meal, with or without a filling, wrapped in a bio-degradable wrapper. It's good cheap fuel. If you are concerned about them getting sweaty, but them in a ziplock baggy.

We get our tamales from the Tamale Lady too. I like Mexican tamales best. I'm not too crazy about Guatemalan or Salvadoran tamales. If I feel like Salvadoran food, I'll eat pupusas.

If they are tamales, they are steamed. They shouldn't be greasy.
