What's a 2003 Raleigh International frame worth?
well, I know this sounds bad but I just have to clean out some of my bikes. I have just too many! I want to bring back a lugged steel frame I have and update it with 2003 Campy Centaur components.
The bike that has the components is a NOS 2003 Raleigh International that I bought on Ebay back in January. It has columbus zona STEEL tubing and a carbon fork. It is actually a pretty nice frame and it has about 300 miles on it. The question is....how much is it worth? Honestly, the frame is truely nice and has a very classic frame geometry. At first, I didn't like the frame but now I equally like it and my 2006 Lemond Zurich. However, I really do like the looks and feel of my lugged steel frame with chrome fork.
I'm leaning toward the Zurich being my main bike and right now it is setup with a compact crank and I took it to Brasstown Bald and lookout mountain.
If I keep the International, it will be for more flat rides and the lugged bike would be for the same reason. Actually, the International built up is actually HEAVIER than the lugged bike by 1/2 of a lb.
I can honestly say that the International is one stiff frame. The way the frame is shaped is really pretty sweet. The lugged frame is probably more comfortable for long hauls and I was thinking about rebuilding it to ride RAIN.
I've already sold 3 other frames. I have two more to sell and I will STILL have 2 road bikes, 2 MTB (HT and full suspension) and 1 touring bike.
My girlfriend says that's enough and honestly...she's right. I got into this BIKE BIKE BIKE mentality about a year ago and to date...I've sold like $2k in bike parts/frames since January! Anyone need anything? I probably have it.
