Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The terms of his ban are not public. One assumes it was due to personal attacks. However, bans are usually imposed immediately and Ryanf was able to announce he had an upcoming month-long ban. I might speculate that he requested a ban since he has finals coming up and a race to train for and was spending too much time here.

Oh, and Ryanf, if you're reading this, and I'm correct, good choice.

Now get back to work.

Requesting a ban... now there's an idea... less time on the blackberry is always a good thing... but then airports would REALLY suck...

I think he kicked botto's butt...I just saw botto make a nice helpful post in another thread and, quite frankly it's got me a bit scared! Can I have a hug BDG? I promise it won't result in another Pheard, like the last time.

If it was the Team Ryanf thread, I think Botto gave as good as he got, unless Ryan's last shot was deleted. And a delayed, one-month ban seems atypical. I'll stick with my theory.

1) Ryanf did not request to be banned. Though other members have made such requests in the past during finals and other such busy times.

2) There was some delay between informing Ryanf of his upcoming vacation and the time we issued the ban. There were a couple factors in this. Primarily we wanted to be sure he understood the situation before banning and to be honest - I had to leave the house earlier than planned that evening and there was some delay.

3) As is sometimes the case with temporary bannings there was no one event that ultimately led to the ban but a fairly large collection of things. It is rather rare that one post, thread or exchange can get an established member banned unless they have been previously warned about similar things.

4) Are there not enough ryanf threads going already? Seemed there were fewer before he was banned and that's saying something!

Maybe I'll start one a day until he returns I still think the wrong guy got banned, but it's probably a good thing for him to be studying now.

Ryanf, if you are reading this...
