Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Call this guy a scum bag next time you see him.
(Make sure you have a friend involved to pull him off ya'.)
When he comes to confront you, don't even give him the chance to say a word.
Then blast him one in the nose.(Make sure it counts.)
By the sounds of him, he will get up and pummel you...Just turtle,
cover your face with your elbows.
Take a few for the team...
Now, when with his back turned to your buddy...(this is when you strike...as a team)
Your friend should give him a three stride punt style kick to the
body in an attempt to get him off your a$$.
He should be down but remember,
He WILL come back for more...

some more options:

down some ipecac (sp?) while he's behind you and vomit all over him

let a bunch of foul farts rip when he is on your wheel

push/ team cinzano him in front of a garbage truck or bus (SPLAT!)

hire a sniper to take him out

train rottweilers to take him down and go for the throat

punch him in the larynx

When he shows up for a group ride get someone to distract him. While he is distracted let the air out of his tires. Don't wait for him.

This is one of the few situations in cycling where I am glad I am built like a linebacker and not a 150 lbs weenie. An adult bully in the cycling world. What a joke, Id beat this guy with a ball bat if he disrespected me like that.

I realize that cycling is filled with all you manly men just itching to prove your manhood with a beat down of the racing legend with bad manners, but why don't they just kick him out of the club? When he threatens to kill the leader, call the police and have him arrested. Or is this too logical for you guys?

Trying to teach a guy like this manners is like trying to teach a pig to sing.

It frustrates you and annoys the pig.

I vote for changing the ride time/location and not telling him.

This sounds like a good idea, but the problem that I see is at least one person in the group is likely to be wrapped around this guys finger. Therefore, when the group attempts to execute this maneuver, he'll find out instantly, and just start showing up at the new time/location. If who ever that person(s) may be is also excluded then it might work for a while.

I'd also recommend talking to a few people in the group who also have a problem with this individual about filing a report or multiple reports with the police the next time he pulls something stupid that is also illegal in the eyes of the law.

At the same time, also suggest to the group officials that having this fellow in the group is a liability to them. His aggressive behavior and their lack of attentiveness on the matter might get them sued. That way the officials will also be more active in excluding this individual. However, I think the officials may not be hearing much at all about the group's dissatisfaction with this member in the group. If enough people spoke up, too, then they'd have no other choice than to ban him again. But again, in order for this to work, enough have to speak up strongly.

LOL! So true. Well sometimes extreme situations require extreme actions. Life is too short to be treated this poorly by anyone. Some people just don't have the stones for confrontation, I do.

Although if you're bigger than someone and you threaten to beat them, it's technically assault, this is almost never prosecuted. Any law enforcement waits for the beat down and then sorts out the mess.

Those who fight second usually lose badly because they don't have the element of planning or surprise. This guy is a brutal thug.

We had a nefarious character like this in high school. He was on the track team as a shot putter. He'd show up in shorts and a tee in the freezing rain and then disrobe as many size extra large athletes at fist point as it took to make him warm. He also not-so-surgically removed a guy's nipple with his teeth. This guy was a total animal. One of his most public shots came when his brother, a basketball player, was fouled going to the hole and there was no call. Within seconds the ref was lying unconscious on the wood floor in front more than a thousand spectators.

Someone had the great idea of appointing him with a chaperone position at the prom. He found a kid smoking, took him to a large closet, lectured him about the dangers of smoking and then beat the kid in his tux to a bloody pulp. He was later thrown out of the Navy for destroying all the bones in his drill sergeant's jaw and face.

This was not the guy to tattle on and face the consequences on his time.

This guy should have been in prison. Unfortunatley there was a long string of gutless adults that watched this abhorrent behavior and ignored it. What he did was criminal. At some point someone needs to stand up to this guy. Using the police is the correct and safest way. Animals belong in cages.

Justice is what you make it. If he didn't have hands he couldn't punch anyone anymore. The guy is obviously going to hurt many others given the "correct and safest way".

You only have one option.

Wait til the next time the Boks are in town. Find a way to talk to Os DuRant over a beer. Let it slip that this guy has been saying very bad things about his sister. Let nature take its course.

Seriously, it sounds like you are screwed. You really can't win going against a sociopath, any damage done to him really does not offset the damage done to you.

I didn't realize the can of worms I've opened here, but this guy has been banned, kick out of the club..you name it, but, for some crazy, gutless, weak, pathetic reasons they always let him back. I once saw him turn up at a race while he was under a ban ( time and monetary), pay the fine, then demand to be allowed to race. The weak or frightened officials gave in without a fight, so pay the fine DON'T do the time.
The sad part of all this is he had/has so much talent on the bike he could have been such a great model and mentor to alot of younger riders, but he chose the "Dark side of the Forks"
