unpadded shorts
anybody have a suggestion for a good pair of unpadded bike shorts? I've been riding around in my Dickies shorts, which are pretty comfortable, but tend to get a little soggy on especially long or especially hot rides, so I'm looking for something new. Cargo pockets are a +

I wouldn't recommend unpadded shorts even if I knew of their existence. Get some lycra cycling shorts and be comfortable. Cycling jerseys have 3 big pockets in the back that are far better at carrying stuff than shorts pockets, another thing I wouldn't recommend.
If you insist on continuing your masochistic riding ways, go to Dick's Sporting goods and buy whatever strikes your fancy; but avoid cotton and look for stuff with no seams in the crotch.

Spandex shorts with a chamois that are loose can cause some chafing(minor) but if they fit correctly are far more comfortable than wearing BDU's or Dickies.
If you want comfort, get some real cycling shorts. If you are worried that others might think you are gay, then get a Humvee and a shotgun and go watch some NASCAR.

OK. I confess, I have never rode, race, trained in padded shorts, NEVA!
well once
, and since most the time I do bricks, I just hated how it felt to run in padded shorts so I never wore them again!
My butt is gotten used to my saddle, you never hear me complain.
I usually wear underarmor lycra shorts.

get a pair of cheap mondays and turn them into cut offs.
make sure that you cut them short enough that the pockets stick out.
that's what all of the hipsters are doing, didn't you know?
