Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How much road feel will Continental Ultragatorskins give me?

I put some Ultragatorskins on my Specialized Roubaix Elite because I've had some flats with the original Specialized Pro tires. I think I feel minor imperfections in the wheels (out of true, out of round) that I did not feel with the old tires. Is this expected? Could I have imperfections in the new tires that I can't see?

is the tyre mounted properly? The few times this has happened to me it's been due to improper tyre mounting. Sometimes (rarely, actually) you've gotta pump them up to about 160psi to get them to seat properly, then back them off to the pressure you need for riding. Some tyres are tighter than others.

Any 'out of roundness', or buldging tyre has gotta be pretty big (more than 2/3mm) and isolated to one section of the wheel to be noticeable. Sometimes there are roundness imperfections that are on the outer edge of the rim, but not of the hook which retains the tyre bead, so the tyre will seat properly.

Remounting them is worth a shot. I've got those tires on my bike 700x25 and have had no issues. Maybe the tubes are not seated properly. Better check it out before you get a pinch flat.

Try reducing your tire pressure to 100psi. Works for me.

I noticed my Gators have a pretty stiff skin. In comparison to the relatively supple skin of normal road tires, you may just be feeling the difference in how both of them ride.
