Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Look Keo Cleat Mounting vs. Delta

So I snatched the $50 keo classics on PBK but have a few questions about mounting the cleats. I'm currently running the look 247 pedal with the delta cleats.

#1. I spent a good deal of time and money getting my cleats fitted the first time. Is there away to mount the new keo cleats to put my foot in the same position as it was w/ the deltas?

#2. The Look website mentions that the pedal puts your foot closer to the axle, and that you should lower your seat accordingly. The website says in different places that I should lower my seat by both 4mm and 6mm. Which one is correct? I know it's not a big deal, but #1 is, so I thought I might as well throw this one in.

Thanks,
B.

Good question... I just got a pair myself. I tried to line up the marking on the side of the cleat approx to where the marking on the old Look cleat was. Not sure if it is totally lined up but it looks close and my knees aren't hurting so it can't be off too much.

Good luck and I hope someone has an answer for you.

1) You can try using the cleat template thingee to frame your deltas before removing them from your shoe, and then mounting the Keos within the template. It may not be perfect, but it'll get you in the ballpark.

2) drop the saddle top 6mm.

My Keos came with a sticker template for the bottom of the shoe to put around the old cleat before you remove it, then the keo cleat should match up. Also check the size of the Keo cleat against the old Deltas, and the size of the Keo pedals against the old Looks. Assuming the pedal axle is still in the center for both pedals, you should be OK if you line up the axle at the same spot on the shoe.
