Also received my stuff today. It was peculiar, I thought, that the DHL site never had an update on the tracking.
Very well packaged. All the parts I ordered were there except for the Record Front derailler, which is being sent out tomorrow. I contacted PF today about right after opening the box, and they were very quick to respond to it. My wheels should be here tomorrow according to FedEx. I had to go with a different builder after waiting for 9 weeks for a "great and famous builder" to produce nothing. Tires should be glued and mounted tomorrow too.
I am going somewhat weight weenie on this bike built, so I got a scale to weight stuff in. I was very very disappointed to see some of the large differences between advertised weights and the real weight of things. Frame came in a 1083 gr for a 53cm frame. 2-5 gr I can forgive, but more than that is pretty poor in my book. For example, the SLR saddle that is advertised at 135g and even has that number written on the back of the saddle in plain view weighted in at 150g!! The seat post I chose came in at 29g more too, however, the stem came in at 6 gr less and the tires were 28 gr lighter each. Overall, after adding and subtracting all the parts on hand, I came in at about 150g more than planned. That is huge, but I am hoping to drop some of that on some things like the cable and jacket trimming, steerer tube cut, and using less bar tape, which came in at 66g!!! I am also going to trim the weight of the rear derailler with some carbon parts. I feel almost ridiculous obssesing about this weight stuff, especially since I weight in at 188Lb!!
A full build post with pictures should be up by the end of the week if I get it built by then. Have to arrange the time with a shop 1.5 hours away to do the build.

I just got mine today.
I'm a weight weenie too, so the first thing I did was weigh my 55cm frame (bottle cage screws removed).
It came in at 1100 grams on the nose. That is exactly the claimed weight.
More later....

yep, the bottle cages screws supplied weighted in at 11 be for all 4. I guess I can take that off the frame's weight.

Good god man, there aren't even any real hills were you live. Why do you care? Take the time you spend weighing your stuff and use it to learn to put your bike together.

The best part about being an adult is not having to justify to anyone why you do anything. I would love to build this bike myself. I would even invest in the tools, but the major hurdle is lack of know how and lack of knowing someone with the know how to pass it on to me!!

Seriously, its not difficult...you should give it a shot. Its very liberating to realize that you can do it yourself. Hell..I have a harder time assembling a prefab bookshelf from Ikea than I have assembling a modern bike. A person, such as yourself, who takes the time to weigh each individual bike component clearly cares enough and is methodical/anal enough to do it right.

I'm in on this group buy. I bought someone's spot after hearing about it post deadline. I want to share my excitement (and story) with this forum because I don't think my girlfriend really understands it. She tries though...
This will be my first road bike. I've had tendonitis in my knees for the last 4 years which has made riding uncomfortable at the best of times and quite painful on a bad day. But this year, after finally finding a good physio and getting some great exercises the pain is nearly gone! So I'm back into biking.
First I dusted off my older, rigid mountain bike from the early 90's that I used to ride everywhere. I ride that all over town now , especially if I have to lock it outside unattended. Then I got a full suspension mountain bike. A friend at work inspired me to get parts and offered to help me put it together, which meant a lot of reading and learning about what I'd be getting. Then there was the fun of going out and riding in the woods. I live in Vancouver and made my way up to Burnaby mountain and the North Shore, covering my body in bruises and my shins in small holes. Too much fun!
Now I want to commute (approx 35k one way), but I want to go fast. I looked at local stores and mid-level road bikes were starting at about $2000. I found the groupbuy and decided I could do better. Performance isn't the main reason I'm going carbon fibre because I don't think I've got the experience to notice any real difference in frames provided the thing isn't 30+ pounds and drives like a tank. I didn't want to start too cheap though, as I'm not a big fan of selling and upgrading (I always loose money doing that) and I find it's the cheap purchases I regret, not the more expensive investments. What I really wanted was something that's fun, fast, reasonably priced and looks pretty good.
I'm getting the ZX3, with Campy Centaur components from pedalforce, and the whole thing's gonna be stealth. The decals have already come off the vento wheelset, and they'll be coming off the frame too.
Two more days and I get the frameset and remaining components. Then the obsession begins!
Thanks for reading and I'll post photos in the build thread later.

But first, off to the store to buy a torque wrench. Any tips on a good one?

I'am afraid that's not possible since there are underneath the frame's clearcoat.

If it's the same as the RS, the logo is above the clearcoat on the frame. It was under the clearcoat on the fork. At the worst, I have a whole lot of faith in very fine sandpaper and I'm not worried about catastrophic failure if I sand and re-clear just the small spots of logo.

Strange stuff. I got an email last night from PF. It was actually a receipt for creditting me the cost of 2 Conti GP4000 tires. It didn't have much info other than a short comment about tires being out of stock. I was confused because my shipment should have been on the way already (tracking shows it is somewhere that I didn't expect it to be right now but that's a different story). I contacted PF for an explanation and got this response:
Only the tires were not available as Michelin
was transitioning to Pro Race 3 and as such we had no firm ETA on the
old Pro Race 2 or new Pro Race 3 when the groupbuy orders shipped last
week. The new Pro Race 3 came in just yesterday.
But I didn't order Pro Race tires. I emailed again for further clarification and got this:
After the continental tires sold out, we no longer carry the Continental
brand due to some changes with Continental. As such, we substituted
with Michelin tires which subsequently is out of stock too.
Anybody else ordered tires and got this?

I guess I'll just pick up a pair off eBay. I only wanted the Continentals because they were red.

I had the same issue and got the same response. I asked them to substitute them with a different tire but they said the order had shipped and it was to late. It sucks for me because the refund is a lot less then what I paid initially since I'm in Canada and the US dollar is worth a lot less then when I paid.

No...I'm so jealous of all our neighbors to the south who are already ridding theirs. I'm in Nova Scotia and if it doesn't come soon I won't get to ride it till next year. I use my beater for winter riding. The USPS site just says Electronic Shipping Info Received for me, it doesn't even have a location.

this bike frame is awesome... awesome awesome
looks great anyway, lol, getting ahead of myself
curently still debating what components I want on it. and then after that its off to forage a lil more money
gonna spend $2500 ish on parts this time around
campy record (and repace the chain ring.. silver, gross)
fsa k wing
ritchey carbon stem (4 axis)
easton slx fork
easton ec90 zero seatpost
some seat (probably a selle italia)
rolf vigor sl (most likely just for training)
should look good in the end itll be sub 15 but likely 15 with dirt and weights that are advertised under the reality

It IS an awesome frame. Excellent workmanship. Superior stiffness and handling to any frame I've ever ridden. Great ride.

Surprise! I just checked the tracking info again and amazingly, it showed the shipment is out for delivery. It was supposed to be in Montreal last night. I hope this is for real. Might have some building to do this weekend.

Typically, US shipments should arrive in one of 3 cities - Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. For you, I expect it to arrive in Montreal. It sits there until it clears customs. For tracking purposes, the CP site should show something once the shipment lands in Canada. The next update should be after clearing customs. Then it goes into a sortation plant followed by item out for delivery. If you're not there to receive it, they leave a pick up notice card. All of these steps should be shown in the tracking page. I find that most of the time, some of these steps don't show up in the tracking page.
I hope that helps.

Also wanted to add that you can ask PF to email you a PDF of the shipping label. It has information such as the shipping weight (mine showed 18lbs), shipping date, and value of contents (you can use this to estimate the cost of duties - value x exchange rate x tax rate + $5 for customs clearing).
