Anyone ride in the Netherlands?
I'm going to be in Scheveningen on business and staying over the weekend. If I can get a break from work, I'd like to rent a road bike and put in a good ride.
Any suggestions on bike shops to contact for a rental or on good places I'll have easy access to ride from The Hague (or by train).

Do as the dutch and just find a bike that doesn't have a lock and take it. It won't be a road bike, but it is a bike.

OP there are a ton of places to rent bikes. Just look around and ask someone. Everyone in the Netherlands can speak english, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Yeah, I've been before. I know there are city bikes all over the place, and the people are really helpful. The thing is, I'm not looking to rent a pigeon, I'm looking for a road bike. And I'd like to book and plan in advance since I'm going to be in meetings non-stop when I get there.
Thanks for your advice though!

I don't know about that...I had a ton of Dutch friends when I was living in Taiwan, and while all of them eventually spoke English, a few did not upon arrival.
Throw my first girlfriend into that "did not upon arrival" group. That's OK, she taught me how to speak a new language that we could both speak together....

There should be lots of places to rent a bike in Den Haag nearby. I rented a bike in Rotterdam last summer from here:

I've been there quite a bit lately. Great path system, lots of bikes, cars stop for bikes, but I don't recall seeing a real road bike.

i generally don't slip into my bibs and helmet to dial it up to 400W on my way to the supermarket.
want to see a real road bike? try the amstel, past the roosenbrug on a summer evening, or early sunday morning.

I am definitely not saying people don't ride road bikes. They are just not the choice of most dutch.

Scheveningen is a great place, I didn't ride there so I can't offer any advice on where to rent a bike but I can tell you that if you get a chance you should go to a museum in DeHague called: Mauritshuis. There is a room in that museum that may be my favorite spot on the planet, it has a Vermeer on each wall.
