Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is actually true.
It costs us money to sell Steel bikes; due to the slow turn rate. Which makes me sad as I am an old guy and I love high grade steel bikes.

The Tourist, ELLE, Galaxy, Corvus, and Serpens are our only geared steel bikes. [the track steel bikes still sell like crazy]

I have several lugged framed bikes developed plus a 953. But every steel bike we stock is something else that we give up. Immortals sell as fast as we can get them. And Motobecane ATBs are on fire. Moto CycloCross is going crazy. So it is hard to find the recourses to put into high grade steel when they turn so slow. {no under $1500 steel bike can touch the Serpens for value - and it still sells way slower than our carbon bikes & aluminum bikes}

The market speaks; that is how things work.

extra spacers and tall stem
my idea is - you can cut down; but not add on
you would be surprised how many customers buying $2000 race bikes want real tall stems or streerer tubes

Mike...I for one thank you for sponsoring the forum. I wish you had 'The Hour' in stock when I was buying because I would have one of your bikes...but you didn't and so I don't.

I did see a girl locking up one of your bikes downtown yesterday, so there are 3 or 4 of them at least in this little town.

This bike looks great...but I am a Campy guy and honestly have plenty of bikes now.

THANKS

THE HOUR is on the water in all sizes: MattGray and GlossWhite

will be in 4 weeks from now
I am stocking up on this bike for Summer and fall and I want to stop running out of it

New Kilo TT is selling great and is now in Reynolds 520 tubing; barely more than TheHour and with the nicest fork you will see on a track bike [i love that fork]

Thanks for the info but I bought a Langster off of eBay several months back when I found out you were out of my size in 'The Hour".

Personally, I like the weld ripples on the aluminum frames. That's a nice look.

I think Shimano is trying to differentiate (by looks) Ultegra and Dura Ace. From a far away view - it's hard to tell a bike six months ago built up with Ultegra vs. Dura Ace from a few bike lengths away. The only visible feature was the little lettering, etc.

Please don't tell me you are going to release that. It'll make all the effort of swapping out all the Le Champion Force parts onto a Carbon Fiber frame in October for nothing =T.

Matte black is the way to go... that carbon fiber frame you plan on releasing, any chance it'll be matte black? That could swing me over from the group buy.

edited to your taste of course

I do like the looks of the new group/bike, what is it going to cost?
any chance for a group buy deal?

Exactly. A buddy of mine bought a Sprintour last year and the steerer was pre-cut very short for his 60yo body. In the end, a $15 stem riser fixed the problem but at the time I said here that it would have been better to leave the steerer longer and let the customer cut it shorter as desired. I don't know if you guys heard me but at least it seems we're thinking alike.

Beautiful bike, by the way. I'm not in the market but if I were that would certainly be under consideration.

article that gives a high level on the differences.

i've been thinking on the FC-R700 to replace my FSA crank, but i've been holding off because i like the look of carbon. i think here's my happy middle ground.

Just a head's up. I changed out my FSA to the R700 and the difference was night and day.

i figured it would, the FSA is an OEM crank... but now with the Ultegra SL I can keep my color scheme and my whole drive train will say "Ultegra" on it

Yes, but the R700 looks much sexier than the Ultegra! The R700 looks more like Dura Ace at quick glance.
