Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just picked up this baby. I'd not been much of a fan of Trek since every other bike i see is one. But after riding it & getting a deal I couldn't refuse....Well, I couldn't refuse.

I just got new black & dk. gray marble bar tape in the mail today. Got rid of the original nasty blue tape, original wheels, & original saddle. Put on Neuvation M28Aero wheels & Fi'zi:k Pave saddle. Rides like a dream!

Welp, I took the plunge and bought my first true road bike! I have been riding around on an old Ciocc steel bike outfitted with 105 but today I bought a used 2004 Specialized Roubaix Elite triple from Craigslist and I really like it. I just brought it home and will take it out for it's maiden voyage tomorrow when it is light out. Here are some pics, pretty straightforward, full Ultegra except for the wheels (540s) and the cassette (Dura Ace) and the stem is ITM. I will have a hard time learning the STI style, but I think I will be okay

edit: sorry the pics are so big, I linked 'em

Hey, I was looking at your site the other day -- you've got a cool bike, a good story behind it, and a really keen component group. Kudos, I'd be proud.

2005 Moots Vamoots 57.5 (3/2.5 ti)

Ultegra 10, 175mm cranks
Dura Ace 7800 wheels
Look HSC3 Fork
Specialized carbon Seatpost and Stem
FSA alum. bars
Speedplay Frogs (ti)
Fizik Aliante Ti saddle (new addition, not in these pictures!)

I love this bike more than words can describe. I'm trying to save up to replace the bar/stem/seatpost, but other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

I know I should be posting pics...but I don't have any just yet.

2003 Litespeed Orion, with Ultegra 9 group, Shimano wheelset, 3T bars, Ritchie stem, some off-brand carbon post. Brand-spanking-new Brooks Honey Team Professional is in the mail right now.
