Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

unfortunately since then, my friend broke the saddle while riding it (no idea how, the rails dislodged from and snapped the holders), so i've been using an old black one until my new celeste/silver fizik arione is here. i'm also getting more traditional road bars with cinelli celeste cork tape, and i've added a sigma B1606 cyclocomputer.

Celeste overkill...

Visually, colors NEED to have contrasts, compliments, analogues, etc in order to have the desired effect. Celeste looks great when mixed up with white, black, and magenta.

It's triadic.

It will always look good to the eye. Change the saturation and luminosity and it won't look like Miami Vice.

So... because it's starting with celeste, it'll end up looking like Miami Vice.

I think that it's fine being all one color, because there are plenty of other colors out on the road, unlike the white garage door. Multicolored bikes look like trash at a distance, but one or two colors look clean & stand out.

As an industrial designer, I respectfully disagree.

As a nonindustrial son of an artist mother, I disagree with your disagreement. Maybe I'm just tired of seeing things over-designed at the expense of clarity & legibility.

Bikes: Cannondale R300 (Upgraded)

As a graphic designer and artist I can both agree and disagree with you both. In many cases its all about the situation and what you want to say with your choice of color and its usage.

Also alot relies on the eye of the beholder here, some enjoy simplicity, some enjoy detailed complexity.

Either way, I enjoy seeing others bikes

I really just wanted to keep it simple, really. I'd like to see what you (all) have to think on ways to change it up - I have the ability to change the handlebar tape, seat, and tire color as of right now. What would you do?

I'd play with Photoshop, that's what I'd do.

Shiny red bar tape, white bottle (um... sorry, it's like glowing white..), black saddle (I just couldn't figure out how to make it look like a honey brown Brooks), and a "carbon" fork:

Celeste and magenta do NOT go together, no matter the theory behind such a statement. It is clearly the worst color combination around, one which unfortunately I see constantly on the hipsters' fixies down at the bar.

I was thinking of putting blue handlebar tape on to match the blue bianchi sticker, or a white saddle with white handlebar tape.

Black bartape and saddle to look classic and low-key
White bartape and saddle to look classic and flashy
Whatever you do, match the bartape and saddle

I agree the all-Celeste doesn't work that great in this situation, especially since the seat and bartape are close, but not quite exactly the same as the frame. That never looks good, regardless of the color. You're better off with more contrast.

Yeah, I think I'll go with the white saddle and tape. This also means I can put a celeste saddle and tape on a white bike that I'm building. Pics to follow once the saddle arrives.

Just picked this up today.

Been mountain biking for a while now and wanted to take the plunge into road biking. Took my first ride today, probably around 25miles and I must say, it was great. Ill definitely be implementing a lot of road trips into my daily activities.
