KMC X10 SL Chain - Very Nice

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

KMC X10 SL Chain - Very Nice

I got a KMC X10SL chain of ebay recently, and finally got the correct Missing Link to put it together. My DA chain had about 3K miles on it and had stretched a little, so I was worried that the cassette cogs might have been affected. Turns out it wasn't a problem. I guess I replaced it in time. The good news is that the KMC chain is: Light weight, totally silent, and shifts perfectly smooth. As for durability - we'll see.

buddy of mine rides those all the time. He gets more miles out of them than the Dura Ace chain. Even the mechanics at the shop are impressed.

I'm thinking gold isn't my style, though. Are they all gold?

I switched to KMC this season and as far as 10spd chains go I am not looking back. I've put 2 DX10 chains that I bought for about $25 on 2 drivetrains with very satisfactory results. One was put on aham23's rig. He was nice enough to buy me an SL (at least that's what he says ) as a replacement. Almost can't wait for the dx to wear out so that I can give it a try.

...unfortunately that may be a while.

Do they make them for campy?

Can you take the connector link apart easily? I really like the connex link so if it's the same idea that may be my new 9 speed chain.

Yes and Yes. I run the DX10 on both of my Campy bikes.

Hmmmm... how much do they go for?

Just put on a new DA chain (bought it last year). Figured I'd use it until the beginning of August, then go for something new.

They're more expensive than a Dura Ace but they last a LOT longer. My buddy says he typically gets roughly twice the mileage out of them. I think you can get them off of Ebay for as little as $49 + $12 shipping.

The DX10 is cheap...$27 at my LBS...the SL is like double that I think.

i got the X10.SL from an eBayer in Hong Kong for around $45. Took a while to get here, but it's worth the wait. pun intended.

It's Dura ace because it's not durable. Seriously.
