I need gloves... any suggestions?
On my ride today, just my second, I noticed my thumbs began to hurt. A lot. The big muscle on the palm of my hand was exceptionally sore. This doesn't seem normal; I figure I'm gripping the bars too hard, but my hands sweat like nobody's business so I'm holding extra tight (slight fear of the cars doesn't help either). So now I need gloves. But I'm hoping to get gloves that are breathable in the palms. The more breathable the better.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I love my performance century gloves. They have thick gel padding but a sheer mesh back that stays drier than crochet gloves in my experience. They should be perfect for you.

I need some breathability on the palm of my hand, not the back. The crochet gloves don't sound like they'd work, neither do the century gloves.

Well, if you're ok with spending $$, the Assos prosline are super breathable in the palms (the fabric is see through with exception to the padded areas). I rode them all last summer with no real issues, they are as comfy (and cool) as can be.

Pearl Izumi Gel Vent. They have well vented palms and are a pretty decent glove. Don't plan on using them a second season, though. PI gloves degrade pretty quickly with frequent use and washing.

Anyone have experience with the Louis Garneau ErgoAir Glove? It looks like it has what I'm looking for.

PricePoint has some house brand gloves that I have been very pleased with. After my mc went down in gravel years ago, I always wear gloves!

the Adidas adistar gloves are super light, have great padding, and have worn well for me as well.
Oh, and cycling news gave them them a 9/10 in their twenty something group comparison.

+1 on the Pearl Gel Vents. Definitely worthwhile for sweaty palms.

My experience is that glove fit is all over the map, and gloves that don't fit don't work. This is one area where trying them on at the LBS is the way to go.
I'm very happy with my Louis Garneau Biogel gloves, but I wouldn't buy any specific glove without trying it first (e.g. my Biogel's are medium...in most other gloves I've tried, like Assos, medium is too tight for me).

had to poke my head in on this one... what about gloves for those who, well, fall?
I took a header last night, I'm pretty unscathed, and luckily hit where there was no glass. what would you reccomend to keep road rash off one's palms (on the off chance I do it again) (and knowing me, at some point it WILL happen again)?

i replaced some PI gel gloves that just disintegrated. my hands stay dry and i like the padding a hell of a lot better. it's thinner and more spread out.

I went with the LG ErgoAir. The mesh palm material where there aren't pads felt good in the store, so hopefully i'll like them as much on the road.
