Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We've gotten at least some rain here for 15 days straight. We've already passed our 2006 total rainfall and are about to pass the annual average.

It's not like it's an all day rain. Showers and thundershowers possible in the afternoon...not exactly unusual summer weather. I rode to work, no rain. If it rains as I am riding home, no biggie...with the temps in the 90s, it'll feel sooooo good.

Send some our way. We haven't had rain in weeks and it's getting a little dusty.

Given that I was sweating just walking from my front door to the car this morning, I'll take some all-day rain to cool things off. God, do I hate summer heat.

We are 18" below normal here. Texas and Oklahoma keep hogging all the rain.

I rode home when the lightning stopped, the rain was lighter and I figured I'd get just as wet from the water on the pavement as from water above. And that was true until about a mile from home; then it rained so hard it was difficult to see; had to pull the glasses off.

I used to look at the forecast all the time, but it's wasted energy. Just go out prepared for anything and enjoy what comes. You'll find beauty in any conditions if you look closely enough.

It was raining at 6pm here with the forcast saying it was only going to get worse (with lightning) so i forfieted my wednesday group ride and went to my inlaws for dinner. No sooner than we get underway in the car and it clears up and dries out....only now is it beginning to rain again.

Note to self - do the ride no matter what the forcast/current conditions say.

It ended up being a great night for racing, albeit really hot, at Greenbelt park. We caught a couple rain drops at the start line and that was it. Hot as hell, though.

I feel your pain. 25 mi State TT Champs coming up on Saturday; supposed to rain all day.

Racing season here is in winter (go figure ), so races don't get canceled for rain.
