Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm guessing those aren't children's spoke beads on there -- wtf are those things?

I don't get those bits either, surely not a good place to have any additional weight; right near the rim?

Are the spokes similar to Spinergy PBO spokes?

Another odd feature of that wheelset: there are 6 spokes that are between the pairs, and those spokes all go to the non-drive side. That will lower the tension on the NDS, which leads to more DS/NDS tension disparity (something to avoid in a wheel build). Anyone know why they do this? It's essentially opposite of the ingenious Campy/Fulcrum triple pattern with half as many NDS spokes.

I am not sure.....they are made from Carbon and Kevlar (The Kevlar is the yellow part and there is a black stripe down the middle that is carbon) They are lighter than standard spokes so they can put a lot of them and the spoke doesn't end at the hub. They pass through the hub.

There claim to fame is weight and strength. The wheelset weights in at 1360 g. Pretty light for a set of clinchers....and on top of that they are Clyde approved....not many wheelset tout both light and recomended for riders over 200lbs....

Interesting about the weight and durability. Still wondering about those 6 spokes.

EDIT: never mind, those 6 spokes are DS as seen below. Sounds reasonable

Are those Crank Bros. quattro pedals? How do you like them? What's the purpose of the platform shape?

Well, I do like the way they look. I just wondered, do they provide any support for your foot?

No. You can check with Chucklehead next time you see him; he has both. To me, the Topo spokes look like bungee cords.
