Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

+1

As I recall, Armstrong averaged right at 34 when he won the TdF TT (about 30 km I think) in 05(?). And the hour record is 34 and change, so that makes 55/11 one of the top TT riders in the world as he is turning out these kind of numbers in the Catskills. Or, maybe he has his computer set to kms?

I like how the "experts" of these forums like to give advice.

Any of you TDF winners? No...thought so...please don't give false advice.

There have been plenty of mashers in the years that have done well and haven't had knee problems. Not everyone can be Lance Armstrong and spin 110+ cadence on climbs. Thanks for playing.

Me too. I know it goes against the grain of racer type riders, but I swear I go up to a higher gear and the speedemoter tells me, I just added a couple MPH's.

I think its only 18 mph with a 700c tire. I could be wrong though.
