Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Indeed, very very funny. I had some hell in an airport recently along with the group of friends I was travelling with, this story brightens my night.

The sad thing is that the whole 'no fluids in your carry on' is a total waste of effort. Look for a description of the chemistry that would be involved in making an explosive material (presumably a peroxide of acetone) from liquids and it is clear that it is not something that could be done on an airplane. Or at least there are more practical things not involving liquids that could be used. Maybe they will ban solids next. Once again, those in charge want to be seen to be doing 'something', even if they haven't got a clue.

Except you're leaving out the part where she didn't actually have to taste it because she protested and was allowed to board without drinking her own breast milk.

The FAA policy was changed in 2002 so screeners can't demand that passengers drink or taste any liquids they are carrying.

I don't think lanolin counts as a liquid. Imagine what would have happened if you had bag balm in it's place.

"what's this?"
"it's...uhhh, for milking cows, y'know so the udders don't get chaffed from your rubbing them so much"
"sure guy, or shall I call you...terrorist. what are you using it for?"
"I'm putting it on my ass for hundreds of miles of bike riding!"
"come with me sir"

Well, except you left out the text of the report actually published at the URL (and quoted in full in the follow-up post at https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...postcount=17): Associated Press reported that the woman was actually forced to drink ("A woman says a security guard at Kennedy Airport forced her to drink"--"forced," not "ordered," "threatened to require," "initially ordered," or other inchoate terminology). You very well might have better info; I made no effort to personally verify AP's report, but I don't see any mention at that URL that AP's report was later corrected (which would be appropriate if you are correct), perhaps even if only to clarify that she tasted but did not swallow.
The story does state that the policy was later changed (also quoted in my post).

So I don't see that anything was left out, but gee whiz (and where did I leave that tempest-in-a-teapot jpg), the anecdote was not intended to be a serious commentary to be established beyond a reasonable doubt; rather, to heighten a silly story by way of an analogy (i.e., what would happen if OP was ordered to publicly demonstrate that the product in the tube is actually used for lubricating his butt). One can only hope the next installment Airplane! screenplay covers the point.

If it weren't for those Fifty Plus 50+ Forum members who protested they have trouble reading color text, I probably should have set the facetious stuff to be blue.

Hi-five!
