Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which color & size (Look 565)

Going to buy myself a new frame for my bday and start a build (campy record). Right now I have a 58cm Specialized that is white. Since the Looks are measured C-C should I be getting a 53cm in the Look? If i do that will put the seat tube at the same length as my Specialized. And for the most important question White or Carbon? My bike right now is white and I love the color, but hate cleaning it. And the carbon weave on the Look is awsome looking.

No, Because specialized is measured to the top of the seat tube (or however they do it) and look measures center to center. If I get a 57cm in a look is will be way to big for me. I was just comparing the geometery of my allez and the geo of the 565 and the 53 seemed to be the closets fit. I road a guy's 555 a few months ago and it fit nicely, I just cant remember if it was a 53 or a 55cm. I am just trying to figure this out because I want to get this frame shipped here quickly so I can have it before I go to Vegas.

I'd look at the top tube lengths to find a comparable size.
The 58cm Allez has a virtual top tube length of 58.2cm.
The XL Look has a virtual top tube length of 57.5cm and the XXL has a virtual top tube length of 58.7cm.
Look shows 3 different measurements for the seat tube: ctr of BB to ctr of TT, ctr of BB to top of TT, and ctr of BB to top of ST

I have a 55cm LOOK in white and I wish it was black. White is a PITA to clean and I like the look of nude carbon.

BTW-There is no way I'd go from a 58cm bike to a 53. That's a huge difference, unless the bike you have now is too large I'd get the same size or go down to a 55. How tall are you anyway?

I think you guys are missing the question. He's asking if the frames are measured differently, and if so how does that throw the sizing off? So if he rides a 58cm measured one way, does that equal 53cm to Look's measurements.

No, it does not. I ride a 56cm in some frame sizing and a 55cm in others. A 57-58cm is always too big for me no matter what manufacturer and a 53 is always too small.

I have a 55cm LOOK which is a Medium by their sizing. It fits me perfectly. I'm 5'11" barefoot with a 33" inseam.

i like the white. the reveals of the carbon weave below the white paint look much nicer than the full carbon in my opinion.

sort of like showing a little leg.

Yeah thats what I was trying to say. I was just told that the Look is measured different from my 58cm Allez and I was told the 57cm would be way to big for me. So should I go with a 55cm or 53cm Look to get the same size as my Allez? My Allez fits me nicely, I am 6' with a 32" inseam.

The looks do have a longer top tube than most. The seat tube angel is also steeper. I normally ride a 55 but my look is a 53 and fits great, if you like a nice saddle to bar drop. However from 58 to 53 seems like to much of a change. I am 5' 10" with a 32" inseam If you are 6 ft the 55 would probably be right.

Now fit is everything I would go to your local shop and ask for help even if you are buying the bike elsewhere and have to pay them for there help. you don't want to spend money on a frame that doesn't fit. All the comments you get hear will just be guesses. So you can guess or we can guess or you can go get fitted its your choice.

My guess is the 55

I'm 5'11 and I ride an XL 595. Equivalent of a 57.5.

A 6' guy on a size 53 bike would be a sight to behold.
