Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone have good pics of Garmin 305 mounted?

I am thinking about returning my Ciclosport HAC4+ and picking up a Garmin Edge 305 bundle instead, but I am somewhat concerned about how big of a monsterousity it is. Can anyone provide me some pictures of it mounted, so that I can get a better idea of how big it actually is? Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Looks pretty good!

How do you like that white bar tape? Does it stay clean? I'm thinking about converting my red bike to white tape and saddle. Any thoughts/tips?

The Garmin Edge 305 offers significant functionality in a single unit, so another way of looking at the total size comparison is that it effectively addresses the role of a cyclocomputer and HR monitor in a single device.

+1 on Geoman. I ordered mine last sunday and since it was replacing a for the moment functioning CS200 I chose the slow shipping option. Geoman upgraded the shipping, I had everything Wednesday morning installed it and now have 115 miles of data to ruin my work productivity.

Just for comparison purposes, what are the lengths on some of those stems? 90mm, 100mm, 110mm, etc? The fact that the device is "centered" looks sharp. They're essentially zip-ties, right?

The Garmin has a little mount that zip-ties onto the stem. The mount can be rotated 90 degrees in relation to the concave bottom, so it can be mounted on a stem, or handlebars, as you want. Personally, I zip the mount on with a small wad of electrical tape underneath; it makes the mount 'stick' to the stem and resist moving.

If you haven't seen this thread yet, check it out. There's a $75 rebate.

Vantassel posted the rebate form here: https://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...7&d=1184518917

Just sent mine in and keeping my fingers crossed that the rebate process goes smoothly.

Yeah, I saw that as well, thanks. Geoman even made sure I knew of it when I ordered, seem like great guys. $195 for this thing seems like a steal! I really wanted to love my Ciclosport HAC4, if it worked as intended it would be the best thing on the market, but mine turned out to be extremely inaccurate, even for things as simple as milage and speed. Yes, it was calibrated correctly, according to the instructions pertaining to wheel size.

WOW - Displaying four data fields makes the text size HUGE! I display seven fields in both setups, and it sometimes feels like I've got 8-point typeface. Looks great.

Looks like there are a wealth of stats. What are all the fields that can be displayed on the screen and how many of these can be shown at once?

Does the unit provide a choice of which of the fields the rider can opt to display at any given time? Can they be completely mixed and matched as desired?

8 on two screens though right? You could setup 16 fields between Computer 1 and 2?

There's six pages of data fields in the manual. Up to eight may be displayed at a time on each of the two Bike Computer screens, in any order you desire.

By my count, there are 33 different fields that can be displayed, fully customizable by the user. I often change the fields or the number displayed, depending on my workout. For instance, if you are doing a timed interval workout over one hour in length, you need to place elapsed time as a line by itself (see last two pictures posted), otherwise you lose the seconds display after 60 minutes. For paceline rides, I make sure HR, cadence and speed are prominent. It really is a nice feature and easy to use.

One beef - % grade is only displayed in whole numbers, and I'm not sure how rounding works. It would be nice to see grade as 10.4% or 9.5%, but I think it just rounds both to 10%.
