Quick question about potential new bike
Hello,
Been shopping for a new road bike. I have been mainly looking at the relaxed geometry models like the Pilot, Synapse, etc...I am 6'4". In each shop that I get fit on one of these bikes my legs are so long that the seat has to be raised so that they are higher than the handlebars. Does this sound right? I was under the impression that on these "relaxed" bikes the handlebars and seat would be fairly level. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

The shop should be able to put a high rise stem on any bike should you choose. Stems are the one thing that should be swappable for free at any and every bike shop. Well, except for Wal-Mart!
Saddle to bar drop is a personal choice. There is no right or wrong.

some might say you would be a good candidate for a custom build. regardless, you should be able to get your bars even with the saddle. look for frames with taller headtubes, use spacers and try a stem with more rise. you might have better luck with a traditional level top tubed frame too.
i'm only 5'10" though, some other vertically gifted folks might be able to give some other ideas.
