Is that coke they're drinking?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

from the UCI rule book:
caffine
for caffine, a sample shall be considered as positive if the concentration in the urine exceeds 5 micrograms/ml.

i read recently that you can drink about 6 cups of coffee and be ok, but not sure how accurate that is.

heres a link to the rules:

As a matter of fact, yes, it would be money! I believe Coke is a sponsor, and it's likely that they've planted people at strategic points (e.g. the top of climbs) to hand out Cokes where they'll be likely to be caught on camera. The riders are clued as to where they can accept drinks. Also, the one that I noticed (Chavenel (sp?)), was handed wasn't open.

Not sure why everyone is suprised that they would drink a Coke. Nothing better than a Coke when you start to get the low blood sugar shakes. I figure it is probably better for you than allot of these gels and such. Now if you are one that has a hard time burping just make sure it is flat. Also Tyler had his open and he looked like he wanted it bad.

I wouldn't mind drinking a coke during a long ride- I just wouldn't accept an open can from just anyone while out riding...

Frankie Andreu said today that the riders get a can of Coke in their musette at the feed zones. I'll sometimes drink a Coke or Pepsi at a rest stop during a ride. It helps.

And yes, Coke is a sponsor. Every water bottle in the TdF says Coca-Cola on it.

They get the Cokes from the team cars and in the feed bags.

I drink Coke on rides all the time, or Pepsi. Drink to much though and it'll cramp your stomach and give you gas.
