Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Seatposts...

I've never even thought about buying a new one, but this Bontrager seat post I have is starting to wear pretty severely. Besides weight, what am I really looking for in a seat post? The main thing about the Bontrager I don't like is the one-bolt connection that adjusts the saddle position with respect to tilt, for/aft, and also will release the saddle rails. You have to tighten the living daylights out of the thing in order to not have your saddle's nose tilt up on you every time you hit a little bump in the road. Any good recommendations out there?

Thought I'd make this thread visual:

Thomson Elite

Thomson Masterpiece

Granted, I don't own either one yet... soon.

Okay. You guys have sold me on the masterpiece. I'm pretty sure I'll get the one with setback. I'm not sure what diameter I need though. Anyone know for a 2004 Trek 2300 off-hand?
