Notice how he sneaks right past the "bicycles as form of transportation" question.

gfrance, submit a request to the White House to obtain a picture of President Bush riding in more extreme terrain. They might have stock riding photos from the 160-acre Crawford ranch for you.
They're pretty good about getting back to people who take the time to contact them.

That's MY point....they do not exist. He rides a mountain bike... he is not a mountain biker. And I've grown tired of people and the media suggesting otherwise.

Wife: "Honey, what's taking so long? You've been in the bathroom for half an hour!"

Husband: "Sorry, dear. Shaving the President."

This thread reminds of that great scene in In the Line of Fire where a very drunk Clint Eastwood leaps in front of John Malkovich's bullet, screaming "Must shave the president!"

orcanova 09-20-07 12:57 PM

He doesn't shave his legs. During spring and summer he sometimes rides three times a week, for 1-2 hour rides. He's in pretty good shape for his age. I have been told by people who have ridden with him, who are decent mountain bikers, that he's a pretty strong rider. No one would want to say otherwise, it would be disrespectful to do so after being invited to ride with him, especially if you want to be invited again.

I take it to mean that he's a pretty strong rider for his age, not that he could kick other people's ass all the time. I also have heard that there are some pretty technical trails on the Crawford ranch, and some pretty steep hills, so I wouldn't dismiss him as a flat trail rider...I think he falls somewhere in the middle and tries to get in what he can.

Oh, and can't say for sure from the pic but that front wheel is either one of the two presidential armored SUV's that he uses when he goes biking, or the CAT vehicle. That motorcade rolls with some pretty heavy duty stuff.

Blue Jays 09-20-07 01:00 PM

It is unlikely there will be pictures available of him flying off huge drops. He is still sixty-one years of age at this point.

botto 09-20-07 01:38 PM

your mastery of stating the banal and obvious is equaled by none.

There are a couple of people on this forum who just might be better and more aggressive mountainbike riders than the 61-year-old, Yale-educated, Commander-In-Chief, President of the United States, and leader of the free world.

DocRay 09-20-07 01:49 PM

I thought botto led the free world. After the 07 bottista revolucion.

The former is merely a technicality: he did attend Yale. Money got him a degree. Educated there? You mean between snorting blow, getting drunk, or lollidicking around?
The latter is a matter of opinion and perspective. So long as he is a 'leader', the world is definitely not 'free.'
