Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Clearly a four choice poll is too complex for many members.

Judging by the looks I get from co-workers & students when I ride to work (now a 3-4 time a week occurance), and the fact that even I think road saddles look like torture devices, I would say all of us have a bit of idiocy. But Road Nazis are the worst, not because they should know better, but because they don't realize they are idiots. Fred's, on the other hand, embrace the inner idiot, while Pcad mocks it & RyanF parodies it (I think).

What's a Road Nazi?

I know of the other riders but I'm not familiar enough to say ranks where.

One thing is certain: no self disrespecting Road Nazi (Pcad included) will ever tell you. But all you really have to do to find out is:

• Take out a USCF racing license and to to any medium to large sized crit or RR

• Show up at the local hard core racer training ride

All will be revealed to you.

By the way the fact that only one member here has chosen 'Fred' does underscore my assertion that it's a Fred Fred Fred Fred World.

Putting DocRay as a choice in that poll would have required associating his name with cycling. I can't bring myself to do that.

But good point nonetheless.

By the way I can't win this poll unless more of my fans vote for me.

Self loathing is the first step towards Pcad Cycling Zen. So you have that going for you.

Correct.

Unfortunately I am a Road Nazi, and the only appropriate response to your request for guidance is blow me.

This would include the entire Nyack Ride peloton.

A monsterous group is an exception. They often create less of a disturbance just rolling through.

I'm talking about the guy I just droped, who catches me at a light, and barely even slows down as he passes me in my trackstand.

Total tool.

Agreed. I crushed my right testicle tonight testing a new setup on my 'cross bike. Wearing basketball shorts and a razor-thin saddle..... I almost puked...
