Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Training/base milage on a fixed gear

Well as the title goes, any benefit to this? i have a fixie and i'm thinking of saving my road bike when the weather gets worse and just riding on fixed.

Any particular reason why i shouldn't or in fact should ?

One thing is, base milage is supposed to set a reference point for your body as i hear and if i'm doing it for my first road racing season maybe i shouldn't make that reference point on a fixed gear.

anyhow, thoughts?
