Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've found that antidepressants are to depression like a painkiller is for a broken arm. Both will dull the pain, but neither will fix the underlying problem. You still have to put a cast on the arm, and you still need to fix your brain.

In order to truly get rid of depression, you need to take positive steps to heal yourself. Exercise can certainly help, as can psychotherapy, diet, spirituality, good friends, and a myriad of other things.

My mom has been on oxycotin for years.

Not a good story and nothing I want to talk about. Suffice it to say that you need to work hard everyday to protect your health and any doctor who keeps writing prescriptions is no better than a crack dealer.

Its easier to get someone happy and out of your office than to deal with the problem you helped create.

Finally!

I had a MRSA staph infection as a result of a surgery to repair a broken bone. If that big satan Pfizer hadn't happened to have some Zyvox (a new drug that cost them quite a bit to develop I'm sure), I would've been in bad shape. Really bad shape.

Additionally, a family friend is a medical researcher and has recently worked on projects related to Alzheimer's and cancer. Clearly an evil evil man trying to keep everyone as sick as possible.

Though in many cases Americans prefer medication to actually working to overcome their problems, this is part of a larger social problem, not drug companies. I think ryanspeer maybe had a little too much of the anti-establishment Kool Aid. Not everyone is out to get you buddy.
