Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fuji Roubaix Pro 2007

Looked at this bike I like it verry well. I can get it for $979.00. Is that a good price? Also I am 210lbs. Am I to heavy for it?
Tom

1. Which level of Roubaix? Standard? Pro? RC? LTD?

2. You're not too heavy for it.

I have a 2006 version, It's not the Pro but same frame, but I've change all the stuff around (see my sig) I am 230 LBS ( and dropping) and I simply love the bike. It's built well, rides great, handles smoothly even going down hill and climbs well and it will go as fast as any other bike out there. It's all in the engine regardless of which bike you choose to ride on. The key to the bike thing is being comfortable. If you are comfortable then it's ok.

The component quality in the diffrent versions of the Roubaix is only an optional thing . The higher version has more expensive components and the entry model has the least expensive components. I purchased the entry version and added the components I wanted and it was more fun that way to me. It was like building my own race car. But this is up to you. All shifters and derailleur’s work. Some are just smoother and look prettier that others. I think you have a good deal and won't regret it as long as you get the proper frame size as with any bike. You may get some slack from people who believe that the only bike to buy is Italian, but that is just a matter of opinion. I suggest that the first thing you do if you decide to get the Roubaix is change the seat. I find the stock Fuji seat to be a little hard for my liking.

In that case, hell yeah, go for it. Great deal. 105 is a great group, and the Roubaix frame is a great frame. I've got an '07 Roubaix LTD, and it's really just a great bike. Moreover, under $1000 for a 105-equipped bike is a great deal in today's market (due to the dollar's decline, bike specs have dropped slightly for the $$$ for 2008 bikes).

The only thing you may consider upgrading immediately are the wheels, especially as a bigger guy, but even then, I'd wait until they start breaking spokes before throwing cash at the problem. I had Alex wheels on a Specialized before I got my Fuji, and they lasted me four years before I had any problems, even with a riding weight between 190 and 200 lbs.
