Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, I've been thinking of doing that. I'll probably try the flipped stem next weekend or something.

.
I ordered one of these three weeks ago, should be here by the end of the month. 2008 Caad9 5 in white.

I'll flip the 105 stuff for some nos 2004 centaur and replace the wheels. I considered just building up a frame, but the '08 Cannondale prices were just too good and I wanted the warranty.

Try flipping the stem. It'll stretch you out a bit and get your head out of the stars. It also makes you more aerodynamic.
Then you'll probably be able to decide in a short while if the 60 is too big or not.

But it depends on how you ride.If your more of a lolygagger looky loo commuter the stem upwards is better.I shouldn't say that because some people like that better for really long rides. There is a lot of aerodynamic drag though.Might as well have a flat bar bike, but my thinking could be flawed.

If your more of a heads down mash it till it hurts out of my way guy then the lower angle is what you want.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Going into a headwind today, I ended up with my elbows low, forearms mostly flat, wrists straight, and hands at the front of the drops, just to duck out of the wind. Flipping the stem certainly would've helped.

On the other hand, I go cruising through parts of downtown DC to get to the good places for wide-open riding, and I've even taken this thing commuting more often than the Bad Boy I bought this spring. My tolerance for being tucked a bit lower in-town will determine whether I want the stem flipped full-time.

Good thing about it, though, is that flipping the stem is way easy.

sorry, no I meant scoring a frameset off eBay. I would assume that Cannondale provides a warranty if you buy a frameset from them. also, I checked and Cannondale usually sells their framesets for slightly below what they charge for a complete bike, so that figured in as well. and another thing Cannondale (USA) is not offering Caad9 in frameset-only for 2008, (according to a lbs) they suggest people get the Six13 frameset (which I wasn't interested in).

I have to say, if it was almost any other number, it wouldn't have been so elegant.

Maybe a CAAD7 would be a "CAAD7of9" :

Well, jpbrew814 that is one nice bike you have there! Much nicer than the OP's bike which is nothing but a pile of Liquigas branded ****. In fact, that person who posted that bike should kill themselves! It has no downtube shifters which are much much superior to any Ergopower, STI or Double Tap shifting system because you can shift with your knees!

Nope... that is incorrect my friend. What you are looking for is 9^1/2 (roots are fractional exponents )
