Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

wheel question v. flip flop

hey everyone!
so last year i dug a cannondale roadbike out of my parents attic, and lately i decided im going to try and turn it into a single gear..
ive been looking at buying a flip flop wheel so maybe later i could switch to a fixie if i decide to.. i really like the deep v velocity wheels (i think thats what theyre called) but im not so happy with the price.. are there any other good brands that sell sturdy wheels or should i just fork over the cash and go with the velocity wheels?
im doing this just as a kind of side project to learn a little more about bikes.

You will find more info over on the SS-Fixed gear forum for your project. I found most of my components on ebay when I built a single speed last year.
