Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This was a nice change of pace.

On my group cycling rides, I can almost keep up with the fastest group (all men). Last weekend I went on a different group ride and it was all men again. I could keep up with them for the most part (thanks to some red lights)- but they had to wait for me at the last regroup. Today I rode with a group of women. It was so nice to be one of the fastest ones. I will keep riding with guys because it will make me as stronger cyclist- but it was sure nice to be at the front of the pack today.

I'm glad! bet that felt great!

as far as the men's pace is concern, I use them to get stronger/faster too.

Jeez, I'm the other way, I think I'd struggle with the slower females...

When I join my local cycling club next year I hope to vastly improve.

I am a great believer in training against 'harder' opponents. (learn't that from my years of martial arts) but sometimes it's nice to see where youa re at compared to your peers.

I think most of the time I'm OK with having to work hard at times (or even lots of the time) to keep up. It does make me push much harder than I would if I were just out riding by myself. But I think every so often, it can be nice to go on a ride where it's a little easier. That's what I learned yesterday. It was a great feeling to be the first one up the hill for once!

I feel so used; Dr. Pepper shot out my nose when I read that second line. Thanks for the burn BDG!

On topic, there's quite a few ladies that drop hammers like clumsy construction workers in the club I ride with.
