average cadence
so now that i have my new edge 305, i finally get to see my cadence....today i did a 63miler with an average of 83rpms....i always knew i was a little more of a masher than a spinner but anyway, whats your avg cadence?
Usually around 100-110. Unless I'm climbing I tend to stay well above 90.
when im on a bike at the gym, usually around 100, but on the real thing i doubt its that high, i like to mash.
95rpmss,
45-50rpm
84 rpm over the last 1000 mi.
I like to stay around 95-98
i usually ride between 90-100, but at the end of my ride the average usually varies from 80-83, after you average in the time that i coast...
I spin anywhere from 85-100 on the flats depending on how hard I want to work. Usually (I stress usually), the harder I'm hammering on flats, the faster I'm spinning (seems to lower PE). I turn upper 70's to low 80's on climbs.
bout 75- 85 rpm for me on 40 mile rides.
the average cadence reading on the 305 is useless
I'm not a great spinner, or masher either, for that matter. I try and keep it in the mid 80's. By the end of 50 or so miles I'm usually down to the upper 70's/low 80's.
On the flats I usually tend to hover in high 90's to low 100's...After the ride is done it's usually between 90-94...
Something interesting I've noted is that my rides where the average cadence jumps by more than a few RPM's correspond with me having a higher average speed too.

60-70 :(
I am working on it! |
Does the Garmin count the times when you are at 0? Like at a traffic light? If so, the reading is absolutely useless.
I am usually at 95 - 110. |

All the actual data from the ride is saved, but when looking at it in various software packages (training center, ascent, motionbased, etc) you can set the threshold at which it doesn't include the data in "moving averages". That way you can see average speed, % of moving time at various HR zones, but still, for example, compare total time vs. moving time. I have Ascent set to ignore everything below 5 mph except for total time.

Since my computer broke in August I haven't been monitoring my cadence since I don't have one anymore. Anyways, in August my cadence was between 90-105 rpm's, but I'm also pretty good at cranking at 70rpm in the 53x11 for miles on end.
I don't know my cadence, but my shoe size is 9 1/2.
between 90-110, any higher or lower and either I feel the gear is too heavy or I feel like I'm sprinting.
Don't have a cadence computer, so I have to do it the ol-fashioned way (with a clock). My comfortable cruising pace is about 108.
