Rollers: Are they worth it?
I currently have an old fan/wind trakstand trainer. I havent seen to many threads about rollers. Would a set of roller make that much of a differance in my training/enjoyment?
Thanks, Jeff

I used rollers when I raced many many years ago like the same time Eddy was racing because that's all we had. They took some experience to get used to because you have to balance and stay on the rollers - slightly more difficult than actual riding because of the physics of mounting/dismounting. I've been using a modern 1UP trainer for the last few years and I like it much more than rollers. Not as dangerous and a great workout - it simulates actual riding. I'd never go back to rollers.

Rollers will definitely teach you balance, line-holding, and smoothness. They may be harder to just get a long easy workout with, but I can't handle riding inside more than 30 minutes anyway, I find the challenge keeps me interested slightly longer, and I might as well get some of the extra skills out of the deal.
Plus, rollers freak my cat out a lot more than a trainer and that's a big bonus.
