Jeezelpete, it's Dec 24. Only commies and weirdos know what they're getting for Christmas already.

Alasdair 12-24-07 08:47 PM

Right now, I got indigestion from eating too much... and more to come tomorrow!

I do anticipate quite a haul in the winter (hopefully we'll have one of those this year) cycling gear. And I am going to buy myself a new set of wheels (just not 100% sure which set yet).

Or those who printed out pages from the Internet of what we want. :D I thought about just going ahead and filling my shopping cart and letting my wife come in and put in the CC number, but I thought that was a tad tacky...

I sold the peugeot that I got off craigslist last year and bought an 84 trek 760. It was one of their best bikes, if not the best bike, back then. It's heavier than my peugeot for a smaller frame, but man is it sweet!

**********

In New Zealand and Australia it's already Christmas Day ... in the afternoon. And if anyone is of Norwegian decent, they traditionally open gifts Christmas Eve.

It always strikes me funny when the Christmas movies have the new Santa who has taken over from an old Santa starting his run in the US. In reality Santa starts his run in New Zealand or the east coast of Russia, and finishes with the US.

Vanuatu, if I'm not mistaken. All they want for Christmas is something to replace the guano mines. But Santa ain't gonna bring them bird poop. :)

Anyway, I picked myself up some sidi genius 5s and my fiance got me a new cycling jacket.

My mom is Swedish, and we did presents tonight (which would be Christmas Eve for me).
I got some books and things, but the real present is my Trek '08 1.2.
Yeah I know, it's only entry level and it's my first road bike, but it will serve me just fine until I get into the sport. Everyone gets excited for their first road bike (if they're interested), even if it isn't an amazing bike. I absolutely can't wait. The shop will build it soon!

Doesn't it seem like more and more people know exactly what they are getting for Christmas before Christmas arrives? My parents don't know anything about bikes, so that's why I knew. But my friends know every little thing it seems. :/

I think that's true. I work PT in a lady's clothing shop, and I've noticed that mothers and daughters or husbands and wives have been coming in together and buying clothing for Christmas presents for each other. Or women are coming in and buying a whole pile of clothes and then telling me that their husband gave them money to buy themselves something for Christmas. Apparently they're wrapping them and putting them under the tree, but everyone knows what they're getting.

Cheers mate!

Have a good one.

Christmas Eve night shift = Nightmare

Christmas Day night shift is usually a lot quieter so should be okay...

Coach Ice 12-24-07 11:17 PM

I got a carbon fibre bottle cage. Bling. This might start me down the slippery slope of becoming a weight weenie...
Riding my bike will have to wait until boxing day.
Plus some new swimming gear, it's mild and humid in New Zealand today, I'll be trying that out later this afternoon.;)

Looneytuna 12-24-07 11:27 PM

My wife thinks I have been celebrating christmas every few days for most of the last few months...
I keep coming home with new cycling clothes or goodies... with all the pre christmas sales I have had no will power..
new bike, new helmet, new booties, new gloves winter and summer, new l/s jersey, new bib tights, 2 new bib shorts,
new socks, new s/s jersey, more tires, tubes, powder drink, gels, mini-pump, couple base layers...

and I have another frame on order expected end of January... now have to shop for some parts for the frame... :)

eb314 12-24-07 11:33 PM

Other than my dad giving me an extra full ultegra gruppo that he's had lying around for a few years (he has a lot of bike parts) for my new frame that I put together a few days ago, my girlfriend got me a bell sweep r red/black helmet to match the new bike. I also got a bike rack for the car.

With the pric of coal you should be able to trade it for a carbon bike frame.
