Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Exciting!

Note attatchment! Temp above 0 is rare for these parts this time of year, I'm thinking a big ride is on tap.. my fave 100km ride is coming to mind. It will probably hurt too as ive not been on a ride of such length since last october due to time of year. Gonna have to go to work on the crappy commuter bike tonight in preparation, could really use a new chain and a good cleaning.

Bikes: Lots

Let us know when you're finished the ride. Half the time when I announce a ride before I do it, something happens and I don't do what I planned. Good luck!

That 6deg day looks doable for me until I noticed a windspeed of 20km/hr. A wind like that takes the spirit out of the ride.

I know how you feel ... we're getting weather like that over here in Alberta too, and so I rode a century (100 miles) on January 2nd. It was the only day I had open for that sort of thing.

What part of Ontario are you from? A January thaw is pretty much guaranteed here in Toronto. Last year I was Mountain biking on New Years Day.

Im about 450km north from you in Sudbury "Hell of the north".

I got back from my ride earlier, didnt feel that great but good enough to do the whole 100k. My fitness obvliously went down a bit as expected not having done anything substantial outside since october, but It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, plus I was riding a 30lb bike so Im quite happy. Bad thing about the ride was the amount of sand on the shoulder of highway 17, I was riding ontop of wet sand 98% of the time, that realy slowed me down, and you shoulda seen my legs knee down, not to mention my bike!
