Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

When/if my frame cracks beyond hope and I can remember to get a hold of you for some of your groupbuy deals! Tempting to get another frame for no good reason.

When you think it's been long enough, and the wife *might not* kill you immediately when that big box shows up at the door.

One time, I waited *not quite* long enough. I barely lived through that one...

When the day ends with a "y". I'm probably not the best person to ask this question too though consididering I built up at least six new bikes last year.

You run across something neat at a garage sale/thrift store/flea market.

Never.

There are plenty of great used bikes out there, some hardly used by the poseurs who bought them. There is no need for more crap in the world.

If you mean new to you, when it something completely different from something you already have.

When the weather's great outside; you need a new bike to go enjoy the great weather.

When the weather sucks, you need a new bike to keep you motivated for the upcoming spring.

After attending bike tool school, purchasing toolset and stand. That way you can practice working on your
old bike, yet have a new bike that is ride-able.

When the bike you have now gets dirty after riding it in the rain.

Wife suggested that I build my "dream bike" and actually contributed to the group set. I built it over Christmas. However, she didn't realize a "dream bike" to me includes "top shelf" frame/wheels/components.....

I need to lay low for a while.
