Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wet race = fast race?

Each fortnight my club has a 12km ITT over the same course. A few weeks ago it was raining and several of us did PBs that haven't been matched to date (all other races were dry). Some of the other racers reckon it is a 'fact' that wet weather = faster times - less rolling resistance or something. I'm a skeptic, I put it down to the fact there was little or no wind that day. Anyone else got any evidence that wet weather makes for a fast time?

Hmmm OK, you reckon the evidence is the dude that came off slid for ages?
Fair enough I guess, though that was a nice smooth road, the one we race on is quite coarse.

I'm thinking it is much simpler: namely all of you just wanted to get out of the friggin' rain!!
