Ritchey WCS road bar users - opinions
Carbon, alloy, don't care. What do you think about the various bends? I'm leaning toward WCS Logic Road but the WCS Logic II is a bit shallower.

hate it, can only use one section of the drops. base of the drops are too short to grab, puts levers out of reach for smaller hands.
But that's me.
edit: model.
on 40cm c-c WCS logic OS alloy, pro and comp

I have the WCS Logic alloy bars in 42cm. They are just fine for me, and I particularly like the cable routing groove. I like the anatomic bend, but then again, it's what I grew up on...
The same bend can be had in Pro and Comp if you want to spend less $ and experiment. I'd stick to the alloy as I don't think the carbon is worth it.

you clowns that aren't mentioning your model aren't helping. I tried the WCS Logic in a store and there's more clearance than my Aerus Comps. I pretty much can't sprint in those; short drops and no clearance. Those are 145 drop and 90 reach. The WCS Logics are 144/82 but the Logic II's will be 132/78.

The tops are fantastic, I spend 90% of my time there, but the drops are all but useless.

You just nailed my problem with Ritchey stuff on the head. There are a ton of different models and even ones with the same specs have subtle differences from year to year. Makes it hard to buy them used off Ebay or whereever.
That said, I think I've only had one set I wasn't happy with. Out of maybe a dozen. My particular favorite is the biomax Pro with the Ergo bend...the bigger ones, not the funky one with the shallow drop.

I found this on a UK site:
The R75 bend of our Classic bars offers a more gradual transition curve from tops to levers, providing lots of forearm clearance for sprinters and track racers. Classic bars also feature traditional, round drops. Ritchey's R-50 Logic bend tightens the angle from tops to levers, creating 30% more space on the tops, and also features a flat section in the drops for enhanced ergonomics and braking. The R65 bend of our new Logic II series represents a middle ground between Logic and Classic. Logic II also features specific reach and drop characteristics for each width, providing an ideal shape for riders of all sizes.

i used the alloy WCS OS ergo bend for a while. they absolutely SUCK when out of the saddle. my wrists would be sore from being pressed against the sharp bend in the tops. they are also flexy. switched back to profile lava OS. same shape with a much gentler bend in the tops, but same overall dimesions. also MUCH more rigid. profile bars made me faster.

I have WCS on one bike and Deda on the other (alloy bar and stem from the same range). I'd say that,
1) WCS only has one grove and isn't ideal for Campy setup. Not a big deal though.
2) WCS isn't as stiff as my Deda Newton.
With a second choice, I would just go direct to Deda.

I have some Ritchey Biomax II bars with the shortest/shallowest bend and I love them but then a short/shallow tight bend bar is just what I'm after. They did come in a deeper version though so they will suit larger hands better. I think that the Biomax II bars have a good range of hand positions that work.

My hands are pretty small so I'm looking for less drop than 145mm.

Here's an example of the Ritchey WCS Classic I use (they have both 26 & 31.8); it has a relatively short reach, and shallow drop, and if you shop a bit, the price and weight make it a "good value proposition."

To complicate this further, it matters what levers you're using. I have a set of the WCS Classic Shallow bars. They fit Campy levers to make a nice flat ramp. (And Tektro/Cane Creek copies of the Campy design) But I just couldn't get a comfortable set up with Shimano levers. YMMV, of course.

I have two sets of the wcs logic bars with the ergonomic bends. I like the way they feel when in the drops. I never worry about the short section of flat for the drop cause if my hands are there I can't use the levers anyway.

I have WCS logic alloy (40cm; anatomic) on both of my road bikes.
I'm not able to bend them while on the hood/flat section, but they do flex a lot when I hold them at the bar ends. That latter I use when I'm on very bumpy roads. The only issue I have with them is when I do get in the drops (infrequent), my palm has too much pressure at the anatomic bump and it becomes painful after a while.
I'm 145#; in-between small and medium sized gloves.

I'm thinking of getting the alloy Streem bars. It seems odd that Ritchey makes them at the WCS level and the Comp level, but not Pro. I guess I'd just have to get a Sharpie and mark out the "Comp" logo so my OCP friends don't laugh.

I like a flat top, short reach & drop, and decent wrist clearance. hard to find all of those in one bar. I'm thinking the Pro Carbon Logic may be as close as I get.

FSA has a shallow drop version of the aluminum Wing Pro bar.. the drops are REALLY shallow.
