Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I haven't been on a group ride in a month. I'm racing a crit on Sunday -- does that count?

Generally hate the small talk phase. Group rides are only good when everyone's working too hard to talk.

Generic response indicating mid-level pack fodder. Words of praise for fish food.

Truth. I'm always the arsehole that decides the A group has had enough warm up after 5 minutes and starts banging away above threshold to see if anyone actually wants to ride.

that would probably be one of the words i'd call you if we ever did a group ride, and you did that after 5 mins.

One of the more annoying things that people do on group rides. If you pull over after taking a pull, then the guy behind you knows to pull through (unless he's an idiot, then yell at him).

Self-deprecating response that belies paranoid fear of own Fred-tendencies.
