Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Frame Question

Hi all,

I've got an '07 Le Champion on the way. Original intent was to purchase it for parts and then swap the parts over to a CAAD8 frame from Cannondale I just purchased. Question just popped up though, is the frame on the Le Champion possibly as good or better than the CAAD8? The Le Champion has rear carbon stays I think. Maybe I should just sell the CAAd8 frame?

What do you think?

Thanks,

-Mike

Lots of people use a CAAD frame...and I am sure people use the LeMond frame too...I would ride what fits your needs best and what feels best for you!

No. The CAAD8 is a better frame. Look at the going prices of the two on Ebay for reference.

Alas, its a 56cm Anyhow, I was thinking that because the Le Champion had Carbon Seat stays it may be of better quality. I dunno.

First lesson for you. Carbon seat stays on an aluminum frame are 1) marketing and 2) an attempt to solve a problem caused by poor engineering/materials.

Go ask "Le Champion or CAAD" on the racing forum and see what they say.

Don't confuse the concepts of "features" and "quality".

While we're at it, let's not confuse the bike model "Le Champion" with the cycling legend "LeMond" either. That'd be weird...

I'd ride the Le Champion around a little bit and see if you like it.

You may have issues with the BB and headset I think. Aren't the C'dale pieces proprietary?
