Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I hope I'm able to ride my bike when I'm 90.

They'll probably have some Space Age Material replacement for Lycra by then, though.

I don't care if you think I'm a Fred. I don't care if you think I'm an overbearing Road Nazi asshle. Neither should you. And if half the idiots here could wrap their pathetic weenie minds around that staggeringly simple concept, there would be World Peace.

What fun would that be?

Why do you hate Entertainment?

The whole point of calling each other Freds is because the other person really *does* care (deep down...even if they don't freely admit it here on BF). You Fred.

I saw a guy riding a US Postal Madone and wearing one of these today:

I think he had an American flag do rag on too.

Then again I ride in jeans most of the time.

Whenever I see someone decked out in road bike kit, I always assume they're posers like a civic with stickers and a wing. They go slow and crap out on the slightest resemblant of a hill. Sure, there must be a groupuscule who are actually good riders, and while it's not impossible one of them out there could actually be a pro, I don't recall having the thought cross my mind upon seeing one.

Scientific studies show that wearing a kit will decrease your average speed by .00323598987129879127%.

Not much of a stretch really. Only a few more years until we see it.

I just hope his medicare will cover the carnage resulting from the inevitible collision caused by the sun reflecting off some Fred's light, mirror, reflector display - rendering him blind.

...well the eyes are the first to go....or at least that's what the old guys say.

I forgot to specify: the minimum amount spent on kit must be $352 or you won't achieve those numbers. Sorry. Fred. Poseur.

Let me guess, I increase the money spent on a kit and the number magically increases upwards.

Or.... I could just purchase a jersey with the word Poseur printed on the back. Better yet.. a tshirt and shants.

Oh yeah, and my general purpose bike (the one that does the real work and gets the mileage), is the ugliest purple Specialized could come up with (in the early 90s, I think) and has these little silver fenders.
